Attention: Obstacles of Course!

There are a few areas of the challenge where we feel the interpretation of the challenge rules could cause MADI teams some problems. We don't want any misunderstandings at our tournaments so these are the challenge areas to pay careful attention to.

ALSO the ICMs have issued several new General Clarifications that will probably affect MADI teams be sure to check the clarification site!!!

http://www.idodi.org/clarifications/genclar.php?chal=a

  1. ALL team member involvement with the vehicle must be indirect. This begins after 8 minute performance time starts and the vehicle is first placed on the Obstacle course and ends when the appraisers call "Time" at the end of the performance.
    • THIS INCLUDES: the vehicle changing shape, travel between obstacles, travel from end of the Obstacle course to beginning of the Obstacle course, replenishing the vehicle power supply, and overcoming obstacles.
    • THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE: reseting Obstacles, repairing Obstacles and placing vehicle directly on the other side of an Obstacle after a failed attempt.
  2. The rope in the Rope Climb Obstacle in Table 1. is defined as "cords or strands braided or twisted together".

Attention: Chorific Team Managers!

Our MADI CHALLENGE MASTER for Chorific, Rich Mizia has made a ruling for safety sake in MA. The issue is over the GARDEN HOSE listed on the materials table. He is very concerned with the safety issue revolving around cutting this type of material with scissors!!

The team may not pre-cut any items before bring them into the STUDIO.

In view of the potential difficulty in cutting GARDEN HOSE, I have made the decision to allow the team to substitute "CLEAR VINYL TUBING" for Regional and STATE tournaments. Be advised, this will only hold for Massachusetts! If the team goes on to GLOBALS, they will be required to use GARDEN HOSE.

The "CLEAR VINYL TUBING" must be 5/8" OD by 1/2" ID. This is the same dimension as a GARDEN HOSE. Please make sure the tubing is either marked with this dimension or bring the tag that shows it. You may bring in as much as you want, but the shortest length that will be allowed is 6'.

As I said, this is a team decision! You may not bring both types into the STUDIO.
